Why is the installer so large?

Some of our competitors have smaller installation files, but they don't include all the dependencies required to get the server running.

The installer TACACSSetup_vx.x.exe is large because it includes the .Net distributable files. During the installation or upgrade of the software, the installation wizard will detect if your system does not have the correct version of .Net and install it for you if it is not there. This simplifies the process of installing or upgrading for customers. 

TACACS.net 2.x (Advanced) uses .Net 4.5, which is included in Windows 8/2012 or later. If you are installing TACACS.net Advanced on an earlier version of Windows such as Windows Vista, Windows 7, and Windows 2008, the installer will upgrade .Net for you. The .Net installer can also be downloaded separately from the Microsoft web site. The .Net installer is less than 1MB, but the .Net full download is about 48 MB.

We include the full .Net content because some of our customers install TACACS.net on secured networks that do not have access to the Internet and this eliminates a potential roadblock for the installation process.
